A now-viral video on social media captures a man strikingly resembling the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba passionately performing the hit song “Obi Ate Me So Buo” at a funeral.
With braided hair styled like Lumba’s and acting in his signature mannerisms, the middle-aged impersonator drew the attention of mourners at the ceremony.
Some Ghanaians viewed the performance as a heartfelt salute to the late musician, who recently passed away. However, others criticized it, accusing the impersonator of overstepping, with remarks like: “This is not the time to impersonate him. Let the man rest in peace,” and “If it’s a tribute, fine — but this looks more like an attempt to gain attention”.
The passing of Charles Kwadwo Fosu, professionally known as Daddy Lumba, has left a massive void in Ghana’s music scene. His sudden death has prompted widespread mourning both locally and internationally.
