NIA Introduces New Fees for Ghana Card Services at Premium Centres

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a public notice reminding Ghanaians that obtaining the Ghana Card for the first time at any of its 276 Operational District Offices nationwide remains free of charge.
However, for those opting to acquire their first Ghana Card at Premium Centres, the NIA has introduced specific fees, as approved by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana in 2023. This initiative aims to streamline the Ghana Card acquisition process while ensuring transparency in service charges.
The Ghana Card serves as a vital identification document for citizens, facilitating access to government services and other essential activities. According to the NIA, the approved fees for services at Premium Centres are as follows:
• First-time issuance: GH₵310.00
• Card replacement: GH₵420.00
• Record updates with card replacement: GH₵355.00
• Nationality updates: GH₵365.00
• Record updates only: Free at district offices; GH₵310.00 at Premium Centres
These measures are designed to provide citizens with options that suit their needs while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the national identification system.
