Man ‘chèws’ off wife’s èar in scuffle in Dambai

A man identified as Mr. Emmanuel Addai has allegedly bitten off his wife’s èar in a shocking case of domestic violence at Wonkayaw, a community in Dambai within the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.
The victim, 46-year-old Madam Cecilia Fordjour, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the attack occurred after her husband returned home from a funeral. She explained that she had just finished preparing food for the family and was with the children when her husband unexpectedly ordered her to leave the house. According to her, the confrontation escalated, and he physically assaulted her, biting off part of her ear.
She recounted that she was rushed to the KOPAH Clinic with the severed ear, but medical staff explained that reattachment was impossible due to the delay in seeking treatment.
The matter has since been reported to the Krachi East Police Command. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Al-hassan Abdul-Razak, the Divisional Crime Officer at the Dambai Command, confirmed the report.
ASP Abdul-Razak disclosed that both parties filed complaints — the wife alleging assault and the husband also claiming he was beaten. Medical forms were issued to both, and police investigations will proceed once they are discharged from hospital. He added that the police will review medical findings and collect additional evidence to establish the facts of the case.
