Maame Efua Houadjeto Appointed as New CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority

Maame Efua Houadjeto, former Deputy Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for Mfantsiman Constituency, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA). 

In a recent interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, Houadjeto expressed her commitment to enhancing Ghana’s tourism sector. She acknowledged the significant achievements of her predecessor, Akwasi Agyeman, and admitted feeling the pressure to maintain and surpass those standards. Drawing parallels between their backgrounds in marketing and events, she stated, “I pray to God that I am able to do same and even more because we have similar backgrounds.”

Houadjeto highlighted her extensive experience in journalism, events, marketing, and hospitality, including managing a company specializing in cruise tourism. She emphasized her readiness to build upon the foundation laid by Agyeman, aiming to further elevate Ghana’s tourism industry.

She also noted the support she has received from Agyeman since assuming her new role, underscoring a collaborative transition in leadership at the GTA.
