Ghana’s 68th Independence Day: Government Unveils Activities for 2025 Celebration

The Government of Ghana has officially announced activities for the country’s 68th Independence Day celebration. In line with President John Dramani Mahama’s earlier statement, the 2025 celebrations will be held modestly due to the nation’s economic challenges.

Unlike previous years, there will be no grand national, regional, or district parades. Instead, the National Celebrations Planning Committee (NCPC) has outlined key events to mark the occasion:

Activities for 68th Independence Day celebration

1.February 28, 2025 – Commemoration of the 28th February Crossroad Shooting Incident

2.March 2, 2025 – Finals of a nationwide school quiz competition

3.March 4, 2025 – Finals of a nationwide debate competition

4.March 5, 2025 – President’s School Children Awards Programme

5.March 6, 2025 – Ceremonial Parade at the Forecourt of the Presidency
