Dambai Ferry Breaks Down, Passengers Appeal to VRA to Repair Faulty Vessel

Passengers and Traders Urge VRA to Fix Faulty Dambai Ferry

Passengers and traders in Dambai are calling on the Volta River Authority (VRA) to urgently repair a malfunctioning ferry that has left many stranded and disrupted business activities.

According to Charles Awuranyi, Assembly Member for Dambai Central, the ferry broke down at approximately 9:00 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2025. The timing of the incident was particularly unfortunate as it coincided with market day, causing major inconvenience for traders and travelers.

“The ferry broke down around 9 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, and unfortunately, today is also a market day. Vehicles coming from the other side to Dambai are stranded, creating serious concerns for traders. Additionally, passengers traveling from Accra to Dambai, and those needing to cross the lake to Krachi, Wulensi, and other towns, are all stuck,” Awuranyi explained in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Monday, February 17, 2025.
