Sports Minister Kofi Adams Pledges Collaboration with GFA to Revive Ghana Football

Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to tackle the challenges facing football in the country.
Ghana’s football fortunes have declined in recent years, with the Black Stars suffering consecutive group-stage eliminations at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in Cameroon and Ivory Coast. For the first time in two decades, the national team also failed to qualify for the upcoming AFCON.
Determined to reverse this trend, Mr. Adams outlined his vision in an interview with Asempa FM, emphasizing that he does not see the GFA as the root of the problem but rather as a key part of the solution.
“I don’t see GFA as a problem. I see everyone as a solution to our challenge, and that will be my approach,” he stated.
He acknowledged that some previous strategies may not have yielded the desired results and assured that past mistakes would not be repeated.
“Maybe in our approach, we have failed to give the chance. I believe some of the things done in the past will not be done again. We will engage, and the outcome will be made known to the public,” he added.
As part of his efforts, Kofi Adams is set to meet with the GFA this week, ahead of Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar next month.
