Jay-Z Speaks Out on Violent Threats Following False Rape Allegations

Jay-Z has revealed that he and his family have been subjected to violent online threats following false accusations that he raped a 13-year-old at a 2000 VMAs afterparty.

In a legal declaration, the rapper—real name Shawn Carter—detailed the intense harassment he has faced since the claims surfaced. He reported receiving death threats and other forms of online abuse, with many calling for his imprisonment and labeling him derogatory terms such as “satanist” and “terrorist.”

The lawsuit, initially filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, was quietly dropped after the woman’s legal team withdrew the case. However, Jay-Z believes the timing of the lawsuit was strategic, coming just before the premiere of Mufasa: The Lion King, a film featuring his wife, Beyoncé, and daughter, Blue Ivy. He suggested the lawsuit was an attempt to pressure him into either skipping the event or enduring further public scrutiny.

Jay-Z also claimed that the false allegations cost him $20 million in lost business deals and endorsements. In his declaration, he spoke about the emotional toll the situation has taken, citing “mental anguish” and a decision to limit his public appearances.

Additionally, he accused Buzbee of attempted extortion, alleging that the lawyer used financial threats to pressure him into settling. Meanwhile, Diddy, who was also named in the lawsuit, continues to face multiple legal battles and awaits trial on sex-trafficking charges.
