On Monday, 9th September 2024, Hon. Richard Kwadwo Adjei officially filed his nomination to contest for the Buem Parliamentary seat at the Jasikan Electoral Commission office. The event, held at the Jasikan Municipal Assembly, saw the presence of notable figures including Hon. Arnold Kofi Agbley, the Buem Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP); Hon. Bob Charles Agbontor, the Oti Regional Financial Secretary of the NPP; Joseph Fiazuku, Deputy TESCON Coordinator for the Oti Region; and Adolph Gyamebi, the Communications Officer.
In an interview after filing his nomination, Hon. Adjei expressed concern over Buem Constituency’s long-standing support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a period spanning 32 years. He noted that despite this unwavering support, the constituency has not reaped significant benefits in terms of development, job creation, and infrastructure. “They’ve always taken Buem for granted because Buem Constituency will always vote for the NDC. It is time to change the terrain of votes to benefit development, jobs, roads, and more,” he stated.
Hon. Adjei appealed to the people of Buem to support his bid for the parliamentary seat and to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next President of Ghana. He emphasized that a shift in political alignment could bring the much-needed development to the area.
The event was well-attended by key stakeholders from the constituency, including constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, and party faithfuls. The Constituency Chairman, Hon. Arnold Kofi Agbley, commended the leadership of the Nana Addo government, particularly highlighting the contributions of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, whom he referred to as the “Incoming President come January 2025.”
After completing the filing process, Hon. Adjei addressed the gathered party faithful, officially declaring the commencement of his campaign. He urged everyone to participate actively in the campaign to secure victory for the NPP in the upcoming elections. “Let’s all rise to the occasion and campaign to each and every one about the progress we have made so far as a party and a nation. Breaking the 8 with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is possible, and all must be involved,” he concluded.
The event marked the beginning of what promises to be a vigorous campaign in the Buem Constituency, as Hon. Richard Kwadwo Adjei and his team work tirelessly to shift the political landscape and bring new development opportunities to the people of Buem.
