The Great Oti Association North America demonstrates its commitment to supporting healthcare in the Oti Region by donating a significant supply of bedsheets, bed covers, and pillowcases to the Jasikan Municipal Hospital. The presentation ceremony, held on Monday, 5th August 2024, highlighted the association’s ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery in the Oti Region.
Rear Admiral Moses Beick-Baffour (retired), the Country Representative of the Association, stated that the items included bedsheets, bedcovers, and pillowcases meant to augment the efforts of the government as well as the management and staff of selected health facilities, including Jasikan Municipal Hospital, Worawora Government Hospital, Krachi West Hospital, Kadjebi Clinic, and Likpe Bakua Polyclinic.
In his speech, Mr. Saviour Dell Adiakpor, the President of the Association, intimated that the objective of the association is to foster unity and support among citizens of the region domiciled in the USA. He praised his colleagues for always thinking of what could be done to support their families back in Ghana.
Mr. Agbekornu, the hospital administrator, expressed profound gratitude for the donation, noting that the items arrived at a critical time due to a shortage of bedsheets at the hospital. He assured that the supplies would be utilized to enhance the quality of healthcare provided to patients. Additionally, he appealed for further support for an ongoing project that has stalled due to financial constraints, highlighting the hospital’s reliance on internally generated funds.
The association, which is non-governmental, prioritizes health initiatives as part of its broader objectives to support families and communities back home. Mr. Adiakpor highlighted that staying healthy is essential for effective work and that their efforts aim to inspire others to join in extending support to various causes.
The event underscores the impactful role of diaspora associations in supporting and improving healthcare facilities in the Oti Region of Ghana.
